With the overlay on, your font sits underneath in green and each match is drawn over it in white. Wherever green shows, the two letterforms differ.
Score = letterform and numeral overlap (Dice), weighted by identity glyphs; three ways (complete, characters, numerals) in two normalisation modes.
Cap height matches capital height, for display and logo use. x-height matches reading size, for body text.
Stage 1 compares a low-res visual fingerprint of 14 identity glyphs against every family in the library and keeps the nearest in each category; stage 2 loads only those finalists from Google Fonts and scores the full overlay.
